Superfluid helium from physics laboratory to industry.

Author(s) : CLAUDET G.

Summary

The group of CEA, Grenoble (France), led by the author, demystifies the behaviour of superfluid helium and proposes and develops a new technical solution opening the way for industrial-type applications of large-scale superfluid helium cooling. The paper recalls how to design pressurized superfluid helium baths as to take full advantage of the wonderful heat transfer medium at a limited cost and technical difficulty. Important projects where pressurized superfluid helium cooling was the only way to get the required high level performances are presented.
