Summary

When superconducting cables or magnets are being designed, their size and overall current are often specified and the only option is to determine the copper to superconductor ratio. The thermal equilibrium equation has been solved numerically to find the most stable ratio, which is influenced by the spatial length of the disturbance, the conductor current and the magnetic field. The calculated value of the most stable ratio is presented for various conditions.
