Summary

Comparisons between several package systems were made to find out the best solution for imported onions from Chile to Cuba. Results of weekly evaluations showed better performance of onions stored in loose sacks with trussing as compared with those stored in 48 baskets. Larger losses, by 8 to 14.5%, were found in the product stored in baskets than in loose sacks in bulk.
