Instability analysis of convection driven by surface tension variation for NH3-H2O with additive absorption process.

Author(s) : KIM J., CHOI C. K., KANG Y. T.

Summary

When certain surfactants are added to water, the surface tension increases with increasing ammonia concentrations. The variation in the surface tension makes the liquid layer unstable and Marangoni convection will arise. Marangoni convection instability in an initially quiescent water containing additives absorbing ammonia gas is analysed theoretically using the linear stability theory.
