INSULATION OF PIPES BY FROST.
Author(s) : MOERMAN P.
Type of article: Article
Summary
THE AUTHOR USES THE KNOWN RELEVANT FORMULAE FOR HEAT TRANSFER TO CORRELATE THE EQUILIBRIUM CONDITIONS WHEN HEAT TRANSFER THROUGH ICE BUILD-UP ON A PIPE EQUALS HEAT LOST BY CONVECTION AND RADIATION FROM THE ICE TO SURROUNDING AIR. HE CONCLUDES THAT IN MOST CASES THE HEAT LOSS AT EQUILIBRIUM IS GREATER THAN THAT FROM A BARE PIPE. D.W.H.
