Summary

DESCRIPTION OF THE SPECIAL AIR-CONDITIONING SYSTEM OF A 5-FLOOR (1,600 M2 ) RESIDENTIAL AND OFFICE BUILDING. BOTH HEATING AND REFRIGERATION ARE PROVIDED BY CONVECTION AND CEILING RADIATION, THROUGH A STEEL-PIPE SYSTEM EMBEDDED IN THE REINFORCED-CONCRETE LOAD-BEARING FLOOR, NEAR THE CEILING AND NOT THEFLOOR, AS IN A FLOOR-HEATING SYSTEM. THE TEMPERATURES ARE KEPT BETWEEN 21 DEG C IN WINTER AND 25 DEG C IN SUMMER, AS THE CIRCULATION WATER IS BETWEEN 25 DEG C IN WINTER AND 17 DEG C IN SUMMER. LESS POWER IS NEEDED FOR HEATING AND REFRIGERATING, THANKS TO THE EFFECTIVE THERMAL INERTIA OF THE BUILDING, WHICH IS HIGHLY INSULATED ON THE OUTER SIDE.J. R.
