Summary

THE AUTHORS GIVE THE RESULTSOF A TEST ON THE OPERATION OF A CLOSED LIQUID COAXIAL THERMOSIPHON USED FOR GROUND COOLING AND FREEZING. THE EFFECT OF THE GEOMETRY OF THE RING CHANNEL, THERMOPHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF THE LIQUID INVOLVED IN CONVECTION (KEROSENE, WATER, ALCOHOL, ETHYLENE GLYCOL), THE RATIO OF COOLED AND HEATED SURFACES IS STUDIED. THE RESULTS ARE GENERALISED BY SIMILARITY EQUATIONS. R.R.
