International collaboration on the thermophysical properties of alternative refrigerants: results of IEA annex 18.

Summary

Organized in 1990 under the auspices of the International Energy Agency (IEA), Annex 18, thermophysical properties of the environmentally acceptable refrigerants has provided a forum for the exchange of information and for the coordination of activities. These activities have resulted in internationally accepted formulations for the thermodynamic properties of R123, R134a, R32, R125, and R143a. A comparison of available models has facilitated the dissemination of a new approach for the thermodynamic properties of HFC mixtures. Also included are surveys concerning numerous fluids. The work was aided by an experimental database, a version of which is now available on the internet. The paper provides a bibliography of resulting publications. The activities of the Annex are to conclude in 1999.
