Measurement of critical properties of fluorinated ethers as alternative refrigerants.

Summary

Using a static-type apparatus, the authors measured critical temperatures, critical pressures and critical densities of ten fluorinated ethers and amines, which are expected to be promising candidates for advanced refrigerants, blowing agents and cleaning fluids. The advantage of the measuring apparatus was that a small amount of a sample was enough to determine the critical properties accurately. The uncertainty of the critical properties measured in the paper were more or less: 30 milliK in temperature, 2 kilopascals in pressure and 0.1 % in density. The critical properties of these compounds were estimated well by a group contribution method proposed by Lydersen.
