Summary
A detailed analysis of energy sources and usage in Switzerland and a statement of policy regarding intended future trends. This programme "Energy 2000" was voted by a national referendum in 1990. Fossil fuel and electricity consumption will decrease after 2000 while hydroelectricity and nuclear power for electricity generation will increase. It is planned to increase the installation of heat pumps by 50% each year and domestic heat pumps of approved efficiency will be subsidised. A large number of research projects are in progress. Policies of selective fuel taxation are under review. A.R.T.
