Summary
Air separation plants are one of the typical chemical plants. These plants produce some industrial gases by mean of cryogenic (very low temperature) air separation. Cryogenic distillation section within a cold box (insulated box filled with insulating material) consists of some distillation columns with different purpose. Low pressure column and high pressure column are integrated with a heat exchanger called a main condenser, which makes efficiency of the total process high. This paper reports on the flow of the air separation process and the refrigeration technology used in air separation plants.
