A DETAILED DESCRIPTION IS GIVEN OF A COMMERCIAL AIR CONDITIONING UNIT WHOSE HEATING AND COOLING CAPACITY IS CONTROLLED BY VARYING THE COMPRESSOR SPEED WITH AN INVERTER. A ROTARY COMPRESSOR HAS BEEN SPECIALLY DEVELOPED TO OPERATE BETWEEN 1,800 AND 7,200 RPM. THE REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT IS A CONVENTIONAL ONE OPERATING ON R22 WITH A 4 WAY VALVE FOR REVERSE CYCLE OPERATION. DETAILS ARE GIVEN OF THE HEATING AND COOLING CAPACITY AT VARIOUS COMPRESSOR SPEEDS TOGETHER WITH THE COP. THE EVAPORATOR FAN SPEED IS STEP CONTROLLED TO PROVIDE MAXIMUM COMFORT CONDITIONS ASSISTED BY A RADIATION SENSOR AND AUTO-LOUVRE. THE UNIT CAN ALSO BE REMOTELY OPERATED BY AN INFRARED CONTROL.
