Summary

THE PRINCIPLE OF THE SO-CALLED DYNAMIC INSULATION HAS BEEN PROPOSED FOR BUILDING APPLICATIONS AS WELL AS FOR COLD ROOMS. A SIMPLIFIED MODEL EXPRESSING THE EFFICIENCY OF SUCH A SYSTEM IS PRESENTED. THE PHYSICAL PHENOMENA THAT MIGHT DECREASE THIS EFFICIENCY, ESPECIALLY NATURAL CONVECTION AND CONDENSATION ARE ALSO INVESTIGATED. AN INSTALLATION PERMITTING FULL SCALE STUDY OF A DYNAMIC WALL IS DESCRIBED. FINALLY, THE POSSIBLE APPLICATIONS OF THIS SYSTEM OF INSULATION ARE DISCUSSED.
