Investigation of radiant heat exchange in cold chambers using a radiation shield.

Author(s) : VYGODIN V., BABAKIN B., RUDENKOV V., et al.

Summary

The characteristics of thermal insulation constructions influence much the technical and economical characteristics of cold stores exploitation. The radiant heat exchange between inside walling of the chamber and stored products is an important factor that increases temperature differences between the surface and the air, and by that leads to increase of cold consumption. The paper describes the method and the workbench for investigation of radiant heat exchange emanated from walling when a radiation shield is available and without it. The results of investigations are cited. A significant reduction of radiant heat exchange from walling when the radiation shield was used has been revealed. The paper cites the results of application of heat reflecting roll material - a cotton cloth doubled with a metallized film when insulating low temperature pipe conduits in cold stores. Walling with a reflecting shield is proposed for use.
