Summary
BECAUSE OF VERY LOW CARGO TEMPERATURE OF THE LNG CARRIER, WHICH IS ABOUT 111 K (-162 DEG C), THERMAL STRESSES WILL BE INDUCED IN THE TANK SYSTEM WHEN THE SHIP IS LOADED. THERMAL STRESSES IN THE FREQUENTLY USED MOSS ROSENBERG SPHERICAL TANK SYSTEM ARE INVESTIGATED. A METHOD TO CALCULATE THE THERMAL STRESS IS DEVELOPED. THE DISTRIBUTION PATTERN AND MAIN FEATURES OF THE THERMAL STRESS ARE DISCUSSED ACCORDING TO THE NUMERICAL RESULTS CALCULATED FOR TYPICAL TANK SYSTEMS. (BMT ABSTR., GB., 45, N 7, 1990/07, 90071787.
