Summary

HEAT TRANSFER MEASUREMENTS WERE PERFORMED ON PLANE METAL SPRAYED FACES IN LIQUID NITROGEN. THE RESULTS OBTAINED REVEAL THAT THE POROUS LAYERS HAVING THICKNESSES FROM 100 TO 200 MICROMETERS LEAD TO AN INCREASE IN THE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS BY THE FACTORS 3 TO 10 WITHIN THE BOILING RANGE AS COMPARED WITH SMOOTH FACES. IN ADDITION, THE EFFECT OF VARIOUS PRETREATMENT METHODS ON THE BOILING CURVE'S POSITION WAS STUDIED AND THE RESULTS OBTAINED WERE UNDER DISCUSSION.
