Summary
The technical feasibility and the economic impact of low-critical temperature fault current limiters are investigated for the French HV and EHV electrical grids. The program includes the complete design of a 63 kilovolt/1.25 kiloampere/5 kiloangström version, experienced on current and voltage models. Extensions to the HV prototype demonstration, and to the EHV fault current limiters, are also discussed in the paper.
