Summary
Itoman City Office was designed as an environmentally friendly building based on the observation and study of the subtropical climate, traditional house and city in Okinawa. Natural energy utilization, cooling load reduction and control of the impact to city infrastructures are the major points of the project. With external louvers which give the most distinctive impression. The authors applied solar insulation, photovoltaic power generation natural ventilation and natural lighting to the building. A thermal storage system for AC and rain water utilization were introduced in order to control the impact on city infrastructures.
