Japanese development and market perspective (absorption systems).
Author(s) : WATANABE K.
Type of excerpt: Book chapter
Summary
The author gives the world primary-energy source distribution for electric power production, the possible increase of cogeneration, and trends in absorption system in Japan. They present: distribution ratio of Japanese air conditioning industries in 1996 refrigerant year (total 6.9 million USRT); the driving forces for gas air-conditioning market (government policy for enlargement of utilization of natural gas; global environmental issues; current statistics). 17% of total cooling capacity of Japanese building air-conditioning systems is covered by the thermally-activated heat pumping systems, as of the end of March 1996 or 21.1 gigawatts out of 124.2 gigawatts. Recent achievements in commercial absorption systems with case studies in district air conditioning are also presented.
