Summary
The background of the Kyoto Protocol and Kyoto Mechanism is discussed. As Japan has already increased its GHG emissions until now, its Kyoto target (-6%) is becoming very difficult. It is very important for each company to adopt a reduction strategy at an early stage in order to decrease future risks. In the refrigeration and air-conditioning industry, the measure also has advantages, foe example the increase of the added value of products (e.g. high-efficiency air-conditioning machines).
