Summary

THE PROXIMITY EFFECT FOR A BULK SUPERCONDUCTOR AND THIN LAYER OF A NORMAL METAL WAS STUDIED ON THE BASIS OF THE MICROSCOPIC THEORY OF SUPERCONDUCTIVITY FOR THE CASE OF FINITE TRANSPARENCY OF THE SN BOUNDARY. THE DENSITIES OF STATES IN THE N-METAL WERE CALCULATED FOR VARIOUS VALUES OF THE PARAMETERS CHARACTERIZING THE BOUNDARY TRANSPARENCY AND PROXIMITY EFFECT. THE CONDITIONS WERE FOUND UNDER WHICH THE SUPPRESSION OF SUPERCONDUCTIVITY IN AN ELECTRODE IS NEGLIGIBLE, AND THE RESULTS OF THE CALCULATIONS ARE VALID FOR HIGH CRITICAL TEMPERATURE SUPERCONDUCTORS. THE UTILIZATION OF HIGH CRITICAL TEMPERATURE MATERIALS AS ELECTRODES IN SNINS AND SNIS TUNNEL JUNCTIONS DOES NOT PERMIT ONE TO ACHIEVE OPTIMAL VALUES OF THE CHARACTERISTIC VOLTAGE.
