Summary

FOR TE LOWER THAN TC (TC AND TE ARE SUPERCONDUCTING AND EXCITON TRANSITION TEMPERATURES), THE PHASE TRANSITION OF A SEMIMETAL INTERLAYER INTO AN EXCITON DIELECTRIC STATE IS FOLLOWED BY A KINK IN THE TEMPERATURE CURVE OF THE CRITICAL CURRENT AT THE POINT T = TE. FOR T LOWER THAN TE, A SHARP NONMONOTONIC TEMPERATURE DEPENDENCE OF THE REDUCED CURRENT IS ALSO POSSIBLE.
