Summary
Plants were grown in cool morning conditions (9 deg C from 2 hours before sunrise, 11 deg C at sunrise, 21 deg C from 10 h and 19 deg C after 11 h), an average of 20/12 deg C day/night or constantly at 20 deg C. Drought stress and/or cool morning could completely replace the use of growth regulators. Different water rates and up to 800 milligrammes nitrogen/plant did affect subsequent keeping quality. Low light intensity was adequate for keeping plants in good quality.
