Laboratory and animal model evaluation of the Cryotech LCS 2000 in hepatic cryotherapy.

Summary

The paper describes the application and the given results obtained by an insulated liquid nitrogen probe, allowing in situ freezing of cellular tissu iceballs. After thawing, the iceball becomes necrotic in zones under evaluation. Two freeze-thaw cycles are sometimes necessary. The injection of relatively heated thawing gas does not significantly decrease the thawing time. Liver cancers may be treated in this way.
