Laboratory tests for rating hydronic fan-coil units.

Summary

The uncertainties in determining the performance of fan-coil units are analyzed according the relevant ISO guide. The study refers to a series of tests on two commercial products carried out according to European Standard ENV 1397. The major source of uncertainty was found to be related to the poor accuracy of the measuring instruments, the uncertainty associated to statistical deviations being almost negligible. The paper stresses the need for indicating the value of uncertainty in all determination of performance. The problem of calculating the performance values for operating conditions different from those of the tests is also investigated.
