Summary

This publication provides an overview of the main legal and regulatory issues raised during the workshop in Paris, July 12-13, 2004. The CD-ROM contains the proceedings (2 keynote speeches and 19 presentations) of the the joint IEA/CSLF (Carbon Sequestration Leadershop Forum) workshop on the following themes: overview of on-going work; current and prospective national laws relevant to carbon sequestration presentations by senior country representatives; priority legal issues; existing and future international frameworks; challenges ahead and roundtable discussion. The brochure contains: general background information relevant to the legal debate; a discussion on the international framework applicable to carbon dioxide capture and storage; a description of some national legal frameworks; a brief analytical overview of some of the main definional, policy and process issues; some recommendations for moving forward.
