Summary
In France, heating represents 70% of energy consumption in the industrial sector. Recovery of industrial waster heat thanks to heat pumps is proving to be very efficient: in France, heating using a heat pump instead of a boiler enables energy savings of 70 to 80% and a corresponding decrease in CO2 emissions of 90 to 95%. The heat pumps available on the markets are limited to 75°C, and for this reason EDF R&D has launched development designed to provide heating at temperatuires of up to 140°C.
