Summary
Within the framework of a Ph.D. thesis at the Hermann-Rietschel-Institute, Technical University in Berlin, experimental and analytical studies on ventilation with openable windows were performed. The results describe the possibilities and limits for free ventilation through windows. They can be a basis for the decision to install an HVAC system or not. With a special building design and reduced cooling loads the period of using the ventilation by windows can be extended.
