Limitations of existing frost property correlations.

Author(s) : GETU H. M., BANSAL P. K.

Summary

For the last forty years, many researchers have attempted to understand and develop fundamental correlations for frost properties, such as frost density and thermal conductivity. However, these properties are very dynamic and complex and need to be understood fully for the development of generalized empirical correlations that could predict the frost density and conductivity accurately. This paper presents the application of existing frost property correlations on real supermarket display cabinet evaporators to understand their main differences. The study also identifies the gap in research and proposes experimental technique in order to investigate frost properties and distribution on flat-finned-tube heat exchangers.
