Summary

The features of three clean emission vehicles, compressed air-powered vehicle, liquid nitrogen vehicle and LNG vehicle, were analyzed. An LNG dual power vehicle system adopting air-powered cycle was proposed which combined an opening Rankine cycle with a combustion engine cycle. The results show that the power output of the natural gas opening Rankine cycle in the LNG dual power vehicle system was significantly greater than that of the liquid nitrogen vehicle. Compared with ordinary LNG vehicles, the available energy yielded in the LNG dual power vehicle system increased by 9.82%.
