Summary

THE AUTHOR FORMULATES SOME CONSIDERATIONS ON THE QUALITY OF THE COLD IN FUNCTION OF THE TEMPERATURE THAT IS AVAILABLE AND DESCRIBES HOW PART OF THE LIQUEFACTION ENERGY CAN BE RECUPERATED WHEN VAPORIZING THE LNG. THE JAPANESE HAVE THROUGH THE YEARS MASTERED THE TECHNOLOGY AND GAINED A LONGSTANDING OPERATIONAL EXPERIENCE IN WAYS AND MEANS TO UTILISE THIS DEEP COLD IN INDUSTRIAL PROCESSES. THEIR EXPERTISE COVERS THE FOLLOWING AREAS: 1 THE PRODUCTION OF LIQUID OXYGEN, LIQUID NITROGEN AND LIQUID ARGON. 2 THE VAPORIZATION OF LNG THROUGH RANKINE CYCLE WITH SIMULTANEOUS PRODUCTION OF ELECTRIC ENERGY. 3 THE PRODUCTION OF LIQUID CARBON DIOXIDE AND DRY ICE. 4 THE UTILISATION OF LNG-COLD IN A COLD-WAREHOUSE.
