Load reduction and calculation (for air conditioning of tertiary buildings).

La réduction des besoins et le calcul des charges (de climatisation des bâtiments tertiaires).

Author(s) : CASTELLS A., BAUDRON J.

Summary

The authors review the main types of existing software for simulating the thermal behaviour of air-conditioned buildings, which are classified as "static", "quasi-static" and "dynamic" methods, and underline their respective advantages and drawbacks from the points of view of easy utilization and efficiency. They then describe more in detail the dynamic, mono- and multizones methods, and they recommend in particular "hygrothermal" software (called TAS) enabling a complete, rapid and economically viable thermal vision of a complex architectural project, whose general structure is explained. They describe how this powerful tool (with 64 zones) can be used to simulate and optimize the project in question: improve the envelope behaviour, size the system (refrigerating capacity, for example), and save energy. An overal financial assessment is drawn, which shows the differences, among variants, of capacities and energies, and of investments and overal costs for 10 years. J.R.
