Summary
Cryotherapy applied locally with ice, cold gas or cold compresses has a soothing, anti-inflammatory and anti-swelling effect, and improves the functioning of inflammated joints. Whole-body refrigerating therapy is used successfully for inflammatory and degenerative affliction of the spinal column, for rheumatic affections of the soft parts and for collagenosis.
