Low charge and low emission supermarket refrigeration systems.

Author(s) : MINEA V.

Summary

Traditional multiplex supermarket refrigeration systems use large quantities of synthetic refrigerants. The annual leakage rates are as high as 15 to 30% worldwide with negative impact on the global warming. This paper presents a number of low charge/low emission supermarket refrigeration concepts using natural refrigerants and coolants. It also proves that a completely secondary fluids refrigeration system may reduce up to 80% the artificial refrigerants required charges, without degrading the energy efficiency and/or food storage conditions and quality.
