Summary
The authors present the results of alternating-current loss measurements of silver clad monocore tapes of bismuth-2223 and thallium-1223 prepared by the powder-in-tube method. Losses arising from external alternating-current magnetic field are compared with those generated by alternating-current transport currents (self-field losses). The dependence of the transport current losses on the direct-current magnetic field is also presented. The experimental results are compared with theoretical predictions based on the critical state model.
