Summary

SEVERAL CLASSES OF CONTACT DOMAINS MAY OCCUR AT LOW TEMPERATURES. CONTACT DOMAINS MAY EXIST AT JUNCTIONS FORMED BY TWO DISSIMILAR MATERIALS OR BY SEVERAL MATERIALS. EXAMPLES ARE SOLID-SOLID CONTACTS IN VACUUM, INTERNAL CONTACTS WITHIN A COMPOSITE MATERIAL AND SOLID-SOLID CONTACT DOMAINS WITH ACCESSIBILITY OF FLUID. ANOTHER CLASS IS THE SURFACE DOMAIN SYSTEM INVOLVING SOLID-FLUID < JUNCTIONS > WITH CONTRIBUTIONS TO CONTACT BEHAVIOUR ARISING FROM BOTH THE SOLID AND THE FLUID DOMAINS. EXAMPLES ARE PRESENTED.
