LOW TEMPERATURES IN CHEMICAL ENGINEERING.

Author(s) : KNAPP H.

Summary

LOW TEMPERATURES MUST BE MAINTAINED IN PROCESS PLANTS WHERE MIXTURES OF LOW BOILING SUBSTANCES SUCH AS HYDROGEN, NITROGEN, OXYGEN, METHANE, ETC., ARE LIQUEFIED AND/OR SEPARATED. TYPICAL APPLICATIONS ARE AIR SEPARATION, NATURAL GAS TREATING OR LIQUEFACTION, PURIFICATION AND SEPARATION OF GAS MIXTURES PRODUCED FROM HYDROCARBONS OR COAL. THERE ARE SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES BETWEEN < HIGH > AND < LOW > TEMPERATURE ENGINEERING IN THE DESIGN OF PROCESSES AND EQUIPMENT.
