Summary

MAGNETIZATION OF CYLINDER OF BULK SUPERCONDUCTOR BI(1.7)PB(0. 3)SR(2)CA(2)CU(3)O(Y), WHOSE LENGTH HAD BEEN SHORTENED STEPWISE, SHOWED THAT LOWER CRITICAL FIELD WAS INDEPENDENT OF CYLINDER LENGTH AND THUS OF THE DEMAGNETIC FACTOR, WHEN THE LENGTH OF THE CYLINDER WAS LARGER THAN THE DIAMETER. HOWEVER, LOWER CRITICAL FIELD WAS DEPENDENT ON THE DEMAGNETIC FACTOR, WHEN THE LENGTH WAS SMALLER THAN THE DIAMETER.
