Magnetohydrodynamics: the technology and practical application in cooling water treatment.
Author(s) : MINCHER P. G.
Type of article: Article
Summary
Ionized particles, such as salts in water, if passed through a suitable magnetic field, will generate an electrical potential. This can cause crystallization of the solid and so inhibit the deposition of salts on heat exchanger surfaces, and remove possible nutrients for bacteria, algae and fungi. It is thought that this process may polarize the contents of cell growths, and cause rupture of the cell walls as the particles are driven apart by the electromotive forces. A.R.T.
