Magnetovolumic and magnetocaloric properties of Y1-xRxFe2(H,D)4.2 compounds.

Author(s) : PAUL-BONCOUR V., MAZET T., ISNARD O.

Summary

Y1-xRxFe2(H,D)4.2 compounds (R= Rare Earth) show a first order transition from a ferromagnetic or ferrimagnetic (FM) towards an antiferromagnetic (AFM) structure upon heating, accompanied by a cell volume change. The transition temperature TM0 can be tuned in a wide range of temperature by adjusting the H for D or R for Y substitution. A large magnetocaloric effect has been observed at the transition. The influence of both types of substitution on TF-AF and the magnetic entropy variation is presented and discussed.
