Measurement and calculation of vertical temperature gradients in rooms with convective flows.

Author(s) : OVERBY H.

Summary

The paper deals with experimental and theoretical examinations of the vertical temperature gradient in rooms with convective flows under transient conditions. The measurements are carried out in a laboratory test room of three different sizes. A small room (7.25 square meters) with a normal room height of 2.4 meters (only the result of this experiment is described in the paper), a small room with a large room height of 3.3 meters and a room (10.7 square meters) with a room height of 3.3 meters. For normal rooms with only convective air flows it is concluded that it is possible to find two dimensionless temperature profiles, one for periods with rising air temperature and one for periods with falling air temperatures (heating/cooling periods).
