Measurements and computations in a gymnasium-type large enclosure.

Summary

The flow field and the temperature distribution in a simply structured large enclosure are investigated. The considered building is a gymnasium in the Munich area. An infrared camera was used to determine the temperature of the walls, the floor and the ceiling. By means of thermo-elements the temperature distribution within the large enclosure was measured. Velocity profiles at the supply openings and velocities within the room were investigated by hot wire anemometry. Results of first measurements demonstrate the ability of the experimental setup for serial measurements. Using the information of the first measurements numerical calculations have been carried out by a finite-volume method computer code.
