Summary

A REVIEW OF PAST AND PRESENT ATTEMPTS TO DETERMINE THE SHADING COEFFICIENTS FOR CURTAINS AND OTHER FABRIC CLOSURES INSIDE WINDOWS. THE EFFECTS OF SOME PROPERTIES, SUCH AS THE AMOUNT OF PLEATING, ARE A NON-LINEAR FUNCTION OF THE ANGLE OF INCIDENCE. NEW METHODS OF ASSESSMENT ARE OUTLINED. IN VIEW OF THE VERY LARGE NUMBER OF PARAMETERS, FURTHER RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS ARE PROPOSED. A.R.T.
