Summary

WHILST IT IS KNOWN THAT VARIOUS FACTORS AFFECT THE COOLING LOAD IN THE DESIGN OF COLD STORES, THE MANNER IN WHICH PRIVATE COLD STORES ARE USED AND OPERATED ARE OFTEN UNCLEAR THUS MAKING IT DIFFICULT FOR THE DESIGNER TO DECIDE UPON THE PROPER TYPE OF EQUIPMENT AND COMPONENTS. THE ARTICLE EXPLAINS THE RELATION BETWEEN VARIOUS SYSTEM COMPONENTS AND VENTILATION REQUIREMENTS WHICH AFFECT THE COOLING LOAD FLUCTUATIONS ACCORDING TO THE SEASON AND TIME OF DAY. SUGGESTIONS FOR FROST HEAVE PREVENTION ARE ALSO GIVEN AS NOT MUCH ATTENTION HAS BEEN GIVEN TO THIS MATTER IN THE PAST.
