ICE BANKS ARE USED FOR THERMAL STORAGE IN CHILLER SYSTEMS TO USE CHEAP-RATE ELECTRICITY, TO PEAK-SHAVE ON PLANT SIZE AND TO LIMIT MAXIMUMELECTRICITY DEMAND CHARGES. ICE MAY BE BUILT UP ON EVAPORATOR TUBES, ON BRINE TUBES OR USED AS FRAGMENTS IN THE CHILLED WATER. THESE THREE BASIC METHODS ARE COMPARED FOR COST, EFFICIENCY AND OTHER FACTORS. A.R.T.
