Miniature long life tactical Stirling-cycle coolers.

Author(s) : AUBON C. R., PETERS N. R.

Summary

The paper describes the development and production method of a miniature Stirling cycle cryocooler for both military and industrial applications. The design is described and the features which overcome common Stirling cycle cryocooler failure mechanisms are highlighted. Performance, life and environmental test data gathered from a pre-production batch of coolers is presented. Issues arising from the integration of linear, monobloc, integrated Stirling cycle coolers into infrared and other systems are described.
