Summary

ANALYSIS OF LAMINAR MIXED CONVECTION HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER IN VERTICAL CONCENTRIC ANNULI FOR AN AIR-WATER VAPOUR MIXTURE SYSTEM. THE WALLS ARE WETTED BY THIN LIQUID WATER FILMS. THE INNER AND OUTER WALLS ARE KEPT AT UNIFORM BUT DIFFERENT TEMPERATURES, HIGHER THAN THE AMBIANT TEMPERATURE. THE RESULTS SHOW THAT HEAT TRANSFER IS DOMINATED BY THE TRANSPORT OF LATENT HEAT THROUGH VAPORIZATION OR CONDENSATION OF WATER VAPOUR ALONG THE WETTED WALLS AND THAT THE PRESENCE OF MASS DIFFUSION EFFECT CAUSES PRONOUNCED HEAT TRANSFER ENHANCEMENT. THE EFFECT OF A GREAT NUMBER OF PARAMETERS ON LATENT AND SENSIBLE WALL HEAT FLUXES ARE STUDIED: OUTER WALL TEMPERATURE (30-70 DEG C), RADII RATIO, REYNOLDS NUMBER. CURVES OF: 1) LOCAL DIMENSIONLESS WALL HEAT FLUXES ALONG THE INNER WETTED WALL ; 2) EFFECTS OF RADII RATIO ON THE DISTRIBUTIONS OF DIMENSIONLESS WALL HEAT FLUXES ALONG BOTH WETTED WALLS ; 3) LOCAL SHERWOOD NUMBER DISTRIBUTION ALONG BOTH WETTED WALLS ; 4) TOTAL HEAT TRANSFER RATE ARE GIVEN.
