Modeling the high-pressure ammonia-water system with WATAM and the Peng-Robinson equation of state for Kalina cycle studies.

Summary

The objective of the study was to evaluate the ability of the Peng-Robinson equation of state to correlate vapour-liquid equilibrium data for the ammonia-water system over a wide range of temperatures and pressures. The results of these equations of state are compared with the results obtained using WATAM (a proprietary code for the thermodynamic and transport properties of ammonia-water mixtures). Guidelines are developed for the use of these equations in process simulators for modelling of thermodynamic cycles.
