Summary

The major goal of the present work is to modify Tao-Mason equation of state (TM EOS) to improve its predictive power of volumetric properties of fluids. The modified EOS has been employed to predict the volumetric properties of 20 pure refrigerant fluids. Three temperature-dependent parameters appeared in the modified TM EOS have been determined by corresponding states correlations developed by Sheikh et al. (2002). Totally, the reliability of the proposed EOS has been tested against 584 literature data points over a temperature range from 150 to 600 K and pressure range from zero up to 7 MPa. Further, 182 data points, along the saturation curve have been examined for 12 refrigerant fluids and the AAD of the calculated saturated liquid densities from literature values was found to be 1.22%. The average absolute deviations (AAD) of thermodynamic properties including the enthalpy and entropy for 480 data points examined and 17 refrigerant fluids along the saturation curve from literature values were found to be 4.36% and 4.17%, respectively.
