Modelling air flow in vented box packed with produce.

Summary

In the paper, a numerical model is presented, which describes the airflow through a vented box packed with horticultural produce. By assuming the packed bed of produce to be a porous medium, the authors have been able to predict experimental data with good accuracy, and by analysing the simulation results, to validate the hypothesis of Yun et al. (1996), who have proposed a correlation between the total pressure drop over the vented box with produce and the vent hole ratio.
